Erica Krug is an award-winning freelance writer and photographer based in Madison, Wisconsin. Erica became smitten with writing in the second grade while using the family typewriter to write a report on ground squirrels. After graduating with a degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001, she followed a number of different job paths– elementary school teacher, kayak guide, a two-day stint at Whole Foods– before she found her way back to her first love, writing. Erica now covers a variety of topics (not just squirrels) and has contributed to local and regional publications including Isthmus Newspaper, Madison Magazine, Edible Madison, The Capital Times, Travel Wisconsin and Midwest Living.
